Different Types of Winches

Mile Marker Industries sells a variety of winch types. Read about each to determine which of these winches best fits your needs:

Electric Winches

If you are looking for winches that can get you out of a pinch quickly and efficiently, an electric winch is a great route to go. These types of winches are best for those not planning to use them regularly but rather, want an easy and fast solution if the need arises.

If you are looking for a winch you can use on the regular, check out this next option.

Hydraulic Winches

Hydraulic winches are beasts.

They are the type of winch you’ll see on a commercial wrecker or on the military HUMVEE. In fact, Mile Marker manufactures those very winches.

They’ll reliably get you out of just about any situation you’ve found yourself stuck in again, and again… and again. Mile Marker sells Hydraulic winches with a variety of size/capacity ratings.

However, keep in mind that these winches are a lot larger than an electric winch and may be overkill, depending on the project.

Portable Winches

Not interested in mounting anything to your ATV, UTV, Jeep, or other off-road vehicle? A portable winch could work for your needs. Mile Marker sells a portable electric winch with a 1000 lb. load capacity, the Rhino Pull 1000. It’s less than 20 lbs., comes with 39 feet of synthetic rope, and is easily recharged, and has a variety of really cool accessories including a hard case and specific recovery kit/pulling gear.

Best Winches for Your Vehicle

ATVs, UTVS, Jeeps, trucks, and SUVS are all generally well served by electrical winches. For Jeeps and larger, you’ll likely want to look at winches with a pull capacity of between 8,000 and 18,000 lbs. For ATV

s and UTVs, you can likely get away with a smaller winch with a pull capacity between 2,000 and 5,000 lbs. However, having a portable winch on hand for any type of vehicle is never a bad idea.
